    3. Hi Lynda, this would be a life saver! I just joined this list, but I'm on the Lancashire list, and Manchester, and have just posted a request for the folio/piece #s to search the 1851. I don't have access to either the street index, or the surname one, if you need them to do a search for me I'll try again to get a response. I have the following addresses from a marriage at Man Cathedral in 1843: 3 Barton St. & 19 Clayton St. Not sure where either of these would be, but Joseph POWELL was born in Worsley. He married Elizabeth JOHNSON, her address is the Clayton St. one. A birth certificate for their child #9 gives: Registration District: Barton Upon Irwell, Sub-district Worsley, address is just given as Edge Fold, Worsley. When Joseph POWELL died in Jan. of 1871, that is still listed as his address. I would love to find Joseph POWELL (Edge Fold), Thomas POWELL (possibly 3 Barton St.) or William JOHNSON (19 Clayton St.) Thanks, Sandy Fremont, CA, USA --- Lynda & Dennis Jones <lyndenjones@bigpond.com> wrote: > > > > I have on loan for the next few weeks the above > Census. 1. [ECCLES] 1891 census - Missing records in Irlam?
    2. Anthony
    3. I have been searching the 1891 Lancashire census records for No 404 Liverpool Road in Irlam According to the index, Liverpool Road is on RG12/3153-3156 but I can't find the even nos. around 404 I have followed the route taken by the enumerator and on RG12/3156 he does Fir St, Hayes Rd and Lord St etc starting at page 51 to 67. He does Chapel Rd, Vicarage Rd, Fairhills Rd, Woods Rd (Lane) area starting at RG12/3156 from page 33 to 39. Between these he does Liverpool Road where you would expect to find No 404 (William Hickson) But he seems to be doing Clarendon Rd, Tramway Rd, Astley Rd and low numbers for Liverpool Rd. Can SKS help? -- Anthony Hickson in the UK web page at: www.hicksons.org

    2. Ian S Hastie
    3. Suggest you try Peel Green, Cemetery first. It was the main cemetery for the Borough of Eccles, then in the County of Lancashire. Today Eccles is a district of Salford and we are all in the County of Greater Manchester. I do not know where the records for that time are kept but I suggest you try the Archive offices of the City of Salford which are located on Barton Road, Swinton. This is just a quick reply and if I get more time in the next 24/48 hours I might have more detail for you. John/Jack FOX died in early December, 1931, and evidently Bessie, his wife, predeceased him, although apparently not by much according to the letter notifying my mother of John/Jack's passing. John FOX was living at Rock Cliffe, Westminster Road, Eccles, when last he wrote on Aug 20, 1931. Previously he and Bessie had been living at 10 Clarendon Rd. in Eccles. Does anyone have any idea what cemetery I should contact to search for their graves? I have no idea what religion they might have practiced (or if they practiced any), but John was English by birth (so C of E?), while Bessie was Scottish (Presbyterian?). A great deal of good work was put in by a lot of dedicated people and our thanks should go out to them. We may not have achieved what we ultimately had hoped for but thanks to the team putting in so many hours, rain and shine, we now have a lasting record of those interned at Barton along with their epitaphs; we gave Les Hampson a hard time and the grief that we caused him should to be beneficial in countless other ways. -----Original Message----- From: Roger Hart [mailto:Roger9@btinternet.com] Sent: 11 June 2002 08:00 To: TreeTops Carol; Ted Bagot; Roderick D. For people interested and concerned with the future redevelopment of the chapel site and burial ground. On Thursday last, planning permission was granted for the demolition of the 206 year old chapel and the erection of 32 flats. The graveyard at the rear of the chapel is to have all its upright gravestones flattened, and monuments removed. Half the graveyard will be covered by a car park and the other half grassed over. On Sunday the 16th June at 15:00hrs. a commemorative service, arranged by Mrs. Pat Wilson, will be held at the Barton Wesleyan Chapel site, in memory of the more than 6500 persons buried here. The service will last approx. half an hour. Sunday will also be the last opportunity for people to locate graves, copy inscriptions and take photo's, before it becomes a building site and is fenced and gated to deny access to the public for all time. It is the intension of the developer to keep the rear graveyard a secure area. If you have hesitated in the past, don't hesitate now. Join us on Sunday, for the service or a last look round. The chapel is situated in Eccles, approx. 400 yards north of Barton Swing Bridge, on the left of Barton Road, when heading towards Patricroft Bridge. Roger Hart, Little Lever, Bolton, UK.

Both are Catholic irish, maybe they used All Saints for their marriage and their children's baptisms? On the 1881 census they are living at 14 fielding street and have 4 children, Margaret, Annie, Mary and Michael. Any help or advice would be gratefully recieved.
