    3. Hi, My Grandfather Thomas Holden was a Cook in France during WW1, but after extensive searches over a few years, by myself and a Professional, his records are not to be found at the PRO. Therefore he must be in the burnt records. He did return from the War, and lived into his 70's, so not on any other lists for those killed that are available online. There are far too many medal records for Thomas Holden, to determine which may be him, as I have no idea of his Army number, or which Regiment he was in. I think it was 1919 when only his wife, (my Grandmother Eleanor Holden) was listed on the electoral roll. I have a locket with his picture wearing army uniform. It has been suggested that there may be a name index in Bolton Library Archives, for the newspapers during WW1 period, which listed soldiers going, or coming back from the War. As I am unable to get there myself, I wonder if there is SKS who might be going, and able to help, by checking the newspaper indexes for my Grandfather between 1914 - 1920. I can provide other details about him and his family etc.in order to recognise him should he show up in the newspaper. I would be very grateful for any help, which will be very much appreciated. Thanks, Anouska
