Hi Jan, I've just been checking the IGI and can't find any entry for a John Booth baptized in Edgeworth, Gloucestershire. However, I have found a John Booth, baptized at St. Peter's, Bolton-le-Moors, on the 11th December 1742, parents Richard and Ann. What threw me first time round was that there is an Edgeworth, Gloucestershire, as well as an Edgworth, near Bolton, not very far removed from Harwood, so I think this would most likely be your ancestor.
