Dear List I am a new subscriber. I'm looking in particular for any information about my gggrandmother Sarah Mayoh, born in Bolton, c1829. She had several children in Bury and Rochdale - her first (surviving) children were James and Betsy. Richard Ainsworth of Bury appears as father to her third child. Sarah gave birth to his child, Richard Ainsworth Mayo, my ggrandfather, on New Road Bury in 1851. Are there any documents that might specify Sarah's 'race'? I am very eager to piece together Sarah's brief and unorthodox life although so far she seems to have avoided many of the usual points of identification.
