Hi, All, Is there SKS who would have the 1891 Census for Bolton and would be able to look up a family for me ? (Alternatively how would I look it up)? James A SMITH m. Eliza GARTHSIDE in the June 1/4, 1870, Bolton. They appear in the 1881 Census as living at 71 Weston Street, Great Bolton, Lancashire. James SMITH Head 34 b Bolton Master Clogger Eliza SMITH Wife 34 b.Bolton Charles E. SMITH Son 3 b.Bolton John A. SMITH Son 18m b.Bolton Eliza SMITH Dau 3m b.Bolton This was the James SMITH who made shoes for the Bolton Wanderers. I just wonder whether he is related to the Phil GARTSIDE of that Club ? Eliza SMITH's M.S. was GARTHSIDE). How would I locate the Church at which he and Eliza were married? Eliza was always called "Mrs J.A.SMITH" in letters my family have. One is dated 1909 and addressed to her at "Flanders Arms Hotel", St George Street, Bolton. (Or possibly George Street Lane). Does anyone know if this is still standing? There is also a photograph taken by "Hargreaves Photographer", Bolton. Eliza died on 6 Dec, 1960. I would greatly appreciate some help. Best wishes, Carolyn. Australia.
