Hi Pete, i called in the library today to look at the marriage of George Brindle and Mary Butterworth, to see if it gave any clues as to why James Hulme was living with them in 1841 and 1851, but I don't think it does. St. Peter's, Bolton George Brindle, bachelor of this parish and Mary Butterworth, spinster of this parish, married by Banns 24.5.1835. Wit. Thomas Thompson. I also tried to find the baptism of James Hulme at St. Peter's. I checked all of 1834 and up to August in 1835. This is all I had time to do. I will carry on the next time I go to town.
