Hi Anne, I've been re-collating my records about James to try to find more clues and a thought struck me;- In the census' of 1871 and 1881 he gives his age as 35 and 45, which is why I believed his birth to be 1835/6 In the Census of 1861 and on his marriage in 1862 he gives his age as 29 (both times) which points more to 1832/3 Given that you've looked in the baptisms for 1834 to early 1837 and he's not there, it seems that it would make sense to look earlier (1832/3) rather than continue on going later?
