Thank you, Anne. It certainly looks like the James baptised Jan 1830 is the only candidate for 'my' James Hulme and it also looks like the James Hulme living with the Brindles is mine as we find them close together again after his marriage. Assuming that James, the illegitimate son of Anne Hulme is my ancestor I expect there is little chance of working out who the father was but it's not so important as the name, in this case, came from the mother anyway. I wonder if your Dawson Street Anne is the same person, the Thomas Thompson link is certainly interesting. Lots of interesting questions and angles to think about :-) Cheers, Pete ________________________________ From: pneanne [mailto:pne.anne@ntlworld.com] Sent: Sat 27/05/2006 15:50 To: ENG-LAN-BOLTON-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [ENG-LAN-BOLTON] JAMES HULME Hi Pete, I have just got back from the library. I decided to check Bolton Parish Registers for 1830 and 1831 for James Hulme. He was not there, apart from the James born to Anne Hulme in 1830. I think this looks the likely one, unless your James was not baptised. The only problem is that he was born in Great Bolton.
