    3. Hi Andrea, No area is now classed as Little Bolton, but the long obsolete main division between Great Bolton and Little Bolton, was formed by the course of the River Croal. Beyond that things get open to a bit of interpretation. This map http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/LAN/LittleBolton/ParishMap.shtml shows Little Bolton comprising two separate, non-contiguous areas. This map, http://www.tongefamily.info/resources/ancient_parishes.htm which is essentially similar to the one contained in the Bolton library's publications referring to Bolton's ancient parishes, differs slightly and has three non-contiguous areas labelled Little Bolton (L.B.) Other Bolton parish maps, you will find, also differ somewhat. In most cases the definition is pretty academic because most parts of the two main areas are only a relatively short walk apart. I hope that helps, Rgds, Bob Thornley, Bolton From: <Andreafinney@aol.com> > Sorry to ask - but what area is classed as Little Bolton in the Bolton > Area > ??? > Regards > Andrea
