Hi Sylvia, In this case, born in the Co. means county. Do you know where their daughter, Mary, was born? If it wasn't in Bolton, then the family were unlikely to have been living in Bolton in 1831 when the census was taken. Bear in mind that in 1841 adults' ages were rounded down to the nearest multiple of 5. Hi Valerie, Mary was born in Ireland. That's why I was thinking that Co may have meant Cork, or County-something-or-other. I'm not quite sure how to go about finding any records in Ireland. From what I have heard, many of the records there have been destroyed. I had forgotten that the ages were rounded down to the nearest multiple of five. Thanks for reminding me of that. Sylvia. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Valerie Lirakis" <v.lirakis@ntlworld.com> To: <ENG-LAN-BOLTON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, May 06, 2006 6:09 PM Subject: Re: [ENG-LAN-BOLTON] census 1831 and 1841 lookup please > Hi Sylvia, > In this case, born in the Co. means county.
