    3. Hi Jacqui and Martin, Thanks very much for your interest and help. I'm sure that Jacqui's suggestion will turn out to be correct and that Auntie Florrie's mother will have been buried at the Bethel Church. I'd overlooked that one, and of course it's further away, off Park Road, although that is effectively a continuation of Market St. Returning to St Bartholomew's, as Martin Briscoe has said, the churchyard functions a Westhoughton Cemetery and is used by several denominations. It has been further extended in the last few years. This can be seen clearly by visiting http://maps.google.co.uk/ entering the post code BL5 3TL when the map appears click Satellite. The new section can be clearly seen to the north of the cemetery. Illustrations of St Bartholomew's as it was originally, as it was following rebuilding but before the 1990 fire, and as it is now can be seen on http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/Westhoughton/stbartholomew/stbartholomew.html I suspect that perhaps any discontinuity between the church and the new building probably relates to the very different construction materials, and the difficulty of keying in to the stone blocks.
