    1. RIMMINGTON & GRAY c1891
    2. Gavin and Pauline Yates
    3. John Thomas Rimmington aged 42 b Rutlandshire was in the 1891 census living at 42 Autunn (sic) Street Horwich. Also at this address is his wife Sylvia aged 50 b Hartland (sic - Hertfordshire) and five single boarders (all the six men are General Labourers). John Rimmington and Sylvia Champkin (nee Parkins) married in the Dec Quarter 1886 in Liverpool. Sylvia's first husband was deceased (according to the marriage certificate of one of his sons in 1892. This note is not made on those of two other sons, Philip m in Birkenhead in 1882, and George m in Liverpool in 1893, nor on his daughter Sarah's m Bolton 1886. Sarah, the daughter married John Robert Gray of Daisy Hill, listed in 1891 aged 27, at 38 Autumn Street, Horwich, together with their children Sylvia aged 3 b West Houghton, and John 0 yrs b Hollins Green When did William Champkin die? Did he ever live in Bolton? Where was the family in 1881 (they were at St Albans Hertfordshire in the 1871): George 22, Walter 20, Philip 18, Robert 17, Sarah 13 and William Jnr 1891. William Jnr m in Golborne in 1892, but is not listed in the 1891. Champkin gets a variety of spellings (most often Champion as through my spell checker every time!) but also Chemkin, Camkin, Chaplain, Chaplin and more. I would very much like to track down William Snr b c1837, and the family - 1871-1882, and especially William Jnr as late as 1891; and the various members of each generation in the years following. Any assistance (information, clues, suggestions) in helping break down this brickwall would be very much appreciated. Gavin Yates, in Christchurch New Zealand.
