Thanks Maureen It would be handy if I could find the marriage of my great-grandfather Charles Warburton but I can't. I couldn't put all of the information in my first message but I do know his wife's name - it was Maria Thompson. They lived in Gorton and then in Oldham, When when she left him in 1894/5 he moved to Bolton with their five young children, where he worked as shoemaker. He died in 1922 and was buried in Tonge. Was he really married to Maria? Was he married before and not divorced? I don't know.
