HI I don't know whether you are going backwards or forwards in time re your search for the Grundys. I had a great aunt Mary (aka Polly) nee Worthington from Middle Hulton (Deane Parish, born in the 1890s) she married a Ted (probably Edward) Grundy - they lived in Little Hulton for most of their married life - he was a miner. I don't know if this helps, but I thought it would mention it all the same. Happy hunting Best wishes Lynne ----- Original Message ----- From: "Stephan" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, January 07, 2008 12:26 AM Subject: Re: [ENG-LAN-BOLTON] Grundy > Hi Julie and Elyse > > I can't help with a look up either but I am looking for Grundys as well. > > I am a descendant of two Grundy women: > > Alice Grundy died April 8 1798 in Farnsworth and was married to Josephus > Crompton who was born December 7 1701 Deane > > Mary Grundy born February 6, 1726 married Henricus France who was born > July > 28 1720 in Deane (married September 30, 1746 also in Deane) > > They could be sisters (which would make some pretty interesting > relationships in my tree since they are both 6th great grandmothers to me) > ;) > > Thanks, > > Stephan > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: [email protected] > [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Elyse Chugg > Sent: Sunday, January 06, 2008 5:45 PM > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [ENG-LAN-BOLTON] Grundy > > > Hi Julie > I cant help you with the look up but what family of Grundy are you > researching I am a decendant of James Grundy c1815 (Bolton) son of (i > think) > Samuel c1778 and Elizabeth c1778 who married Ellen Holliday in 1841 in > Bury > Lancashire. Hi Lynne, Stephan and Elyse, Many thanks for your replies. My Grundy connection is only through marriage when my relative William Stuart married Sarah Ellen Grundy in 1882 so I have not investigated the Grundy line particularly. My interest is in tracing anyone connected to William Grundy Stuart of Wigan who died in May 1956 and whose Grundy cousin from Bolton registered his death. Sorry I cannot be of any help to you at all. Best wishes. Julie _________________________________________________________________ Telly addicts unite! http://www.searchgamesbox.com/tvtown.shtml

Hi My Grundy line basically stops at James c1815 and Ellen (Holliday) as they only had 4 Girls Margaret 1842, Elizabeth 1844, Ellen 1848 and Hannah (my G Grandmother) 1850. I have no further info on Elizabeth but Ellen married a Thomas Morley and died in 1874 then Thomas married her sister Margaret who then died in 1883. Thomas and Ellen had 3 children Clarrisa, Margaret and James but Thomas and Margaret had no children that I could find. Hannah married John Slack and had 7 children the youngest Albert my Grandfather. I have not succeeded in going further back than James as have not had the time or money so get certificates etc needed as yet.
