I asked here last year about how to get information on children at Chadwick's Orphanage. I found from Bolton Archives that an accountant holds the records on behalf of the trustees. I received the information that I requested today, photocopies of the two pages in the register. It has one column for the "Name of Next of Kin or Person recommending the Child". Both have a Mrs Green of Mayfield, Great Lever. I wonder if anyone recognises this name? All the others on the page have either a Reverend or The Guardians of Fishpool. As far as I am aware there were no relatives in the Bolton area, my Grandmother was 17 when her parents died and there were eight children including herself.
