Hi Valerie, Thanks for confirming the date of the photograph, and as you point out, it means that the gentleman I referred to can't be George HUGHSON, who I know was a master stonemason by the time he died in 1893. As you say, it could be a relation and you now have me wondering whether it could be one of his sons, following in father's footsteps (there are five to choose from!): Joseph b1847; Esther 1849; Thomas b1852; Alice b1854; Mary Jane b1857; Elizabeth b1860; William b1862; George b1865; John 'Jehu' b1868 and Sarah b1870 Regarding the George HUGHSON wedding photograph... George and his new wife Florence were my great uncle and aunt. They used to live on Mornington Road, Bolton. George's father was John 'Jehu' HUGHSON b1868 in Aspull. John's father was George HUGHSON b1825 in Billinge. I have a photograph, said to be of George, taken shortly before he died in 1893, which I will e-mail to you separately. I will also e-mail you a photograph of John HUGHSON... although I don't know whether John HUGHSON followed in his father's footsteps as far as occupation goes. Kind regards... David Allan.
