Not sure who made the original query but.. The London Missionary Society would seem to be the key to all this. This is now the Council for World Mission and the papers for the LMS are with the University of London. Details are here... http://www.cwmission.org.uk/about/default.cfm?featureID=7 Including a handlist of the items available. You need authorisation from the LMD to get access. Judy
The key work seems to be London Missionary Society : a register of missionaries, deputations, etc. from 1796 to 1923 / prepared by James Sibree, D.D. If you go to the School of African and Oriental studies catalogue http://libnew.soas.ac.uk/search/ You will see they have three copies. They also have a book by Cooper in the local language. The Register is supposed to have biog details so I suggest emailing the SOAS staff to see if they will take a peek. A photocopy of the relevant pages should be available via the inter library loan service at your nearest large library. cheers Judy On 29 May 2008, at 10:20, judy olsen wrote: > Not sure who made the original query but.. > > The London Missionary Society would seem to be the key to all this. > This is now the Council for World Mission and the papers for the LMS > are with the University of London.
