    3. Hello listeners.. I wondered if any of you could point me in the right direction to find out more info about a photo I have of my Gt Grandfather John Taylor born Bolton 1876. It's always been a mystery to our family as he's shown in a studio pose casually sat on the corner of a table table. He is wearing some sort of uniform and hat but it has no military buttons buckles, belts or braids of any description to give away what uniform or what regiment it is. I'm guessing it's 1st world war period. The studio it was taken was C.E Willis photographers, Bolton & Heywood. Any help or advice would be most appreciated. Thanks Linda (always on the look out for Taylor's, Atherton's,Isherwood's, Robinson's - all of Bolton) --------------------------------- Yahoo! for Good helps you make a difference

    3. You need to get the picture posted somewhere so people can see it, Valerie can probably put on her website. But I would also suggest putting somewhere where people with military knowledge can see it as often they can spot some minor detail which is significant. I would suggest the Yahoo BritRegiments group, you have to first "join" then you can post the picture in the "Photos" on the group and post a message asking for help. When you have finished then just set the group to "No Emails" or "Leave" the group. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/britregiments/ Also ROOTSCHAT have a photo identification forum where you can post the picture http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/board,298.0.html Make sure you scan at high enough resolution to show detail and I would scan any details like buttons at higher resolution then crop out that detail as a separate image. 3. Hi Linda, Could you scan the photo to me please in its original size, so I can place on my website, e-mail [email protected] You don't say how old your gt.grandfather looks, but as you say he was born in 1876 it's unlikely, though not impossible, that he would have been a soldier in the war. I have looked at the Post Office Directories for Charles Willis, who is listed in 1907 at 92 Newport Street, Bolton and at the same address in 1916. In 1924 he is listed at 87 Bradshawgate. I have not been able to trace him in Heywood in 1905 or 1924.
