They may be incorrect in your eyes, Stuart, but having been a transcriber for another project, we are told to transcribe precisely what we see and NOT to guess at what it might be. So based on the original the U might well have appeared to be a C depending on the person who did the writing. This made it difficult as I have/had done extensive research in the area that I was transcribing and knew what the name should be, but could only transcribe it as I saw it. If not, then it wasn't a transcription, but my interpretation of what the records should be.
