More to Sarah Caroline Knowles, She was born in Middlesex (census info). I found this curious as I had thought the family was Lancashire through and through. Eventually I discovered that her mother, Sarah nee Silk, was from Westminster. Over several years I was able, with the help of several people more expert at Family history than I am, to piece together Sarah Silk's story and that of her husband Isaac Knowles, who was from Bolton. After the birth of Sarah Caroline and their first son, they returned to Bolton, where the rest of their children were born. If this rings any bells with any listers, please get in touch.
