I don't know of the family you mention, but on the 1911 census there is a William McGowan age 13 lodging with James Hargreaves and family who was the farmer at Garnet Fold Farm, Over Hulton (which is in the vicinity of the Red Lion Pub). It states William is a milk boy on the farm, and was born in Bolton. I hope this helps, Pam Clarke
