Hello everyone Remembrance Day is fast approaching. Over on LancsGen, our friend Sally has started a World Wars Remembrance thread. It would be lovely if those of you with ancestors who served in the wars would, in Sally's words, "acknowledge their contributions on the list with some memories or stories about them." I look forward to seeing your posts, either here or on LancsGen. Kind regards, Lynne
Can I remind people again that they might be able to find a photograph of their ancestor's war grave on the War Grave Photographic Project's website. I often find when I see someone asking about ancestor lost in WWI or WWII that they were unaware that they could get a picture. http://www.twgpp.org/ The main Commonwealth countries have their own projects though graves in the UK should be on the WGPP site. Also if they have an ancestor lost in WWI or WWII who is not on the CWGC Debt of Honour then they can submit the name for consideration using the In >From the Cold website. http://www.infromthecold.org/index.asp Also Ancestry UK have free access to their military records for a couple of days, there was a Tweet about it but can't find on their website. "These records will be available to search for free from 00.01 GMT on 10 November 2011 until 11:59pm GMT on November 13 2011. To view these records you will need to register for free with Ancestry.co.uk with your name and email address."
