    3. In censuses for Harwood there are references to addresses in 'Tea Company Row', which is now part of Longsight, just before it joins Hardy Mill Road. Does anyone know the origin of this name ? Regards, Alan

    3. Hi Alan, As you'll have already discovered, there are no informative hits for googling/yahooing/whateverothersearchengine-ing the name of Tea Company Row. This is a very good site for the history of Great Harwood - http://www.great-harwood.org.uk/about/History/rough%20guide/Revolution.htm . I would take an educated guess that the boom time in the area brought a lot of companies in to take advantage of a large population and possibly the road contained properties for the workers of a Tea Company, or was a geographical nod to the company being close by. As to which company that might be, however, I have no idea. Maybe someone with a more indepth knowledge of Great Harwood would know?
