Glen, On the subject of workhouse registers, I thought I'd take the opportunity of directing anyone who might be interested to my website at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~boltongenealogy/index3.htm in which I compiled an index of Register of Births at Fletcher Street Workhouse 1839-1861, and Turton Workhouse Admissions 1840.
