Hi All Just a bit stuck if anyone can help. Am looking for information on the cottages in Wood Street Horwich ( Conservation Area ) and I believe the cottages were called Club Houses before Wood Street. One particular was built in approx 1803 No 22 - with 2 cottages attached 24 & 26 these are set back from the houses in Wood Street and right at the bottom. On the census - The name Wood street seems to be added after the 1871/81 census and only goes to No 20 - Can anyone help and why 22,24, and 26 is not listed on there ? Sorry for the lack of information, but this is all i know ??? Would Bolton Archives be able to help or would it be a trip to Preston RO ? Hope you are all well by the way Best wishes Andrea

I cannot really help you, but I was born in 2, Wood Street - the front was on Church Street, and the side on Wood Street, My grandparents lived next to the wood yard, I cannot remember the number. If you look on the 1891/1901 census, for the name Ashton and Kirkman, they lived in the houses you mentioned, I have photographs if you would like me to send them to you.
