Advice needed urgently! I am hunting for Kennerdales in the Bolton/Bolton Le Moors/Gt Bolton/Little Bolton area around 1800-1830. I have ancestry so have managed to find all those, including variations of which there are many, who appear in all censuses. However I have been unable to find any marriages, baptisms or burials other than those on the IGI which are limited. Is there any way to find this sort of info online pre 1837, or could anyone possibly look up any of the PR's? I would be so grateful for some help!!! Im looking for ANY mention of the name in any register to try and piece together what little I already have! Many thanks Judith
I have posted my family's genealogy on a website. Much of the early history is Bolton related. Please feel free to explore it and see if there are any matches in your research. www.horrocksgenealogy.com <http://www.horrocksgenealogy.com/> Thanks, Hal Horrocks Costa Mesa, CA
Can anyone advise or help? I am trying to find my g-grandmother Sarah Silk b Middlesex c1850 (info. census and her son's birth certificate). She married Isaac Knowles b Bolton. Isaac had moved to Clapham and in 1871 was living with his brother's family there. I have traced the births of their first two children in Middlesex and Luton, Beds then all the rest in Bolton BUT CAN'T FIND ANYTHING ABOUT HER BEFORE HER MARRIAGE. According to the 1851 and 1871 censuses there is a family living in Westminster which might be the right one but how do I know? I couldn't fnd her in the 1861 census. There is a Sarah Silk age 2 days, different parents. I think this is too young for her but not sure. I don't have a town or parish in Middlesex which complicates the issue. Can anyone help? Mary
Hi Anne, Thanks for looking this up for me. Your help is very much appreciated. Tina

It has nothing on the back except a square for the stamp. However, I found a black and white picture of the postcard in a book called Bolton and District by Chris Driver. Below the photo it says 'Churchgate, but captioned Park Street, with some wonderful artistic additions to the Parish Church to turn it into a grand cathedral, very early 1900s. This fascinating card was printed in Germany'. Regards Jacqui Kilcoyne
Is it possible for someone to find who was living at 66 Dawes St Bolton in the 1901 Census. Thanks for your help Tina

I have recently found details of an inquest in the Bolton Evening News on Robert Winder aged 17 on 18th Sept 1875 who is a distant relative. It is a very full account and I have transcribed it on Word for anyone interested. It involves the following non-family members in some detail. Two doctors- Dr. LIVY and DR MACCARTHY. JOHN DUXBURY who calls himself a dentist and I should judge to be in his early 20s. WILLIAM WALKER, a druggist from Higher Bridge Street. The jury Foreman- Mr WADDINGTON. A house servant- ALICE HEAPY The Deputy Borough Coroner MR R TAYLOR. The WINDER branch concerned lived at 94 St George's Road. Anyone connected to any of the above, I have more information. I would particularly like to know more about JOHN DUXBURY. Best Wishes, Barbara
Hi Bob, Search is over! I just found my Cross family listed under Cons. I don't blame the transcriber as the writing is very difficult to read. Thanks again. This will teach me to copy the source in future. Pat
Re: missing family on Ancestry. Many thanks Bob, the "Dinon" family you found are my Dixon family. I obviously must have obtained the 1901 census from another source as practically every name living at 10 Center Street was mangled on Ancestry. By the way, Mary Yearsley was in fact Owen's mother, not his mother-in-law as it states in the census. My great grandma Alice CROSS widow (c.1866) and her four children,Herbert (1888), Bertha (1893), Mary (1897) and John (1900) were living at 33 Victor Street. I have tried various spellings but I can't find them either. Thank-you Martin and Bob for your quick response to my problem. Pat
Pat, You didn't give any references, but I have some THORNLEYs living in Center St, so I've been able to check that one. 10 Center St is on RG13-3607-139-87 The enumerator for this part of the census wrote in a hand that admits of several interpretations for many of the entries. In this case the head of the household has been indexed by Ancestry as DINON, but there is also mother-in-law Mary EARSLEY (as indexed). The entry looks to me more like your YEARSLEY. I wonder if the other entries could also be victims of the handwriting / indexing problem? But that would not explain why you say that they used to be there. Are you in fact saying that they used to be in the Ancestry index, or are you saying that you had them from another source such as 1901censusonline.com ? Can you give some dates of births and which censuses they are missing from so that we can have a look. I was pleased to see that the 1841 Census is now on line through Ancestry.com, however, when I followed my family through to the 1901 census, I discovered that various family members who lived in the Brownlow Fold area of Bolton are now missing. Alice Cross and family lived at 3, Victor Street, Halliwell and her stepmother, Mary Yearsley and family lived at 10, Center Street. Halliwell. There should be a total of fifteen people with surnames of Cross, Dixon, Ball, Yearsley and Bamber. They were showing on Ancestry the last time I looked but they have now disappeared. Has anyone else lost their family living in this area? Pat
