Hi Margaret, In my index for St. Peter's marriages I came across this marriage, transcribed Heaps. I will check this out when I next go to the Archives. However, the records will probably not tell me very much more than this, apart from occupation, witnesses, and whether of that parish. Hi Martin, I didn't know Bolton had names on these censuses! Thought it was just the odd district here and there. Even if it is just head of household, that's much more helpful than I imagined. Sorry to jump in here, but could I possibly get a list of Blundell? Blundle? They were living on Back Cannon Street/Cannon Street from 1841-1871. Henry, James, hoping for a William too. Where are the fiche available? TIA, Leisha Central Penna
Hello List People I'm new to the list. My interest is in the surname FIDLER. I have a marriage For Valentine Fidler in 1790 at St. Peter's, Bolton, but I know he was not christened there. He was born in 1769, and according to his death record, possibly in Greater Bolton. I understand this to be an outlying village of Bolton although why it would be called greater, I'm blessed if I know. Can anyone help me with a likely Church for his christening? Hi Ros, I've checked FreeBMD for this marriage from 1873 to 1890 but haven't found it. Have you considered the possibility that she might have married twice, and therefore would not have been Alice Hamer when she married Groves? Have you found her on any census. If so, could I please have the details. Thanks. Hi, Following my earlier posting, Lynn Ransom Burton has kindly drawn my attention to an entry on the LDS site www.familysearch.org showin that LDS did in fact film three years of bishops transcripts held at the Lancashire RO at Preston, which cover St Peter's Halliwell from 1840 to 1843. One slight concern is that in the notes for this item, St Luke's Church is referred to, rather than St Peter's. The church has always denied that any such filming was allowed to take place, but they would quite possibly not have the ability to have controlled what happend to the BTs held at Preston. This is very interesting new infomation, for which I thank Lynne. I wonder if anyone has already followed this up and examined the film? If not I shall certainly do so. Rgds, Bob Thornley, Bolton
I'd like to know the answer, please. Ros in Montreal
Has anyone used the National Burial Index on CD-Rom - Second Edition 2004? If so, is it worth the money? What percentage of England is covered? Thank you. Michele Bender
Hi Tina, Unfortunately, there is no access to the registers of St Peter's, Halliwell, other than by directly contacting the church. They have never released any registers for filming and did not allow the LDS to transcribe them. office@stphalliwell.freeserve.co.uk Rgds, Bob Thornley, Bolton From: "C Port" <cport@bigpond.net.au> > Hi Martin > Thanks for your help with this one. > Will try and get the film for it.

I am looking for the death dates of my family who lived in Bolton and later moved to St. Annes-on-Sea and was living there in 1926 when my great-grandfather, Heinrich Johannes Christoph Gustav Erber (aka Harry Gustav Erber, b. 1879), gained British citizenship. He had married a 2nd time after the death of my great-grandma Henrietta Bertha Roberts (between 1980-1914), to Sarah Jane Elliott. I am mostly looking for the death information of his son Neville Harry Erber who had been born 12 March 1918 in Bolton, though it would be neat to know when my great-grandparents died also. Thank you for your time. Michele Bender
Hello - new to the list. Seems a very busy site. Am looking to find a link for the McGuffogs from Scotland to Bolton or anywhere to Bolton. We're back to the 1700's but don't know where to look now to find the missing link back to Scotland. Any suggestions?
