I'm attending a funeral on Monday of a 101-year-old aunt, with the service held at St Bartholomew's, Westhoughton, but I've been told that the interment will take place not in any part of the churchyard but at a separate cemetery off Market Street, where her mother is buried. I was not aware of any other cemetery near the church, and I thought I knew the area reasonably well. Does anyone know if this other burial ground exists and, if it does, where it is? Thanks for any help, Rgds, Bob Thornley, Bolton

Hi Joyce, I found these Scotts in the St. Peter and Paul's Baptism Records. Could they belong to you? Born 4th February, 1854 christened 26th February, Mary Scott, Father Patrick, Mother Alice Darcy. Godparents Patrick Darcy and Mary McEvoy. Born 3rd March, 1854, christened 29th March, Patrick Scott, Father James, Mother Ann Dagherty. Godparents James Kelly and Catherine Queen. Best Wishes, Anne in Bolton.
Many thanks thats great. This is now where I come to a grinding halt. I cant get any further back without actually going to Bolton, which unfortunatly is impossible. Hi Anne, Yes indeed you have made a find here. To the best of my knowledge Patrick Scott and Alice Darcy were my gg grandparents. I have yet to prove it beyond doubt. I have never been able to place grandfather Patrick Scott, b.1853, in the same household as the senior Patrick. Patrick Jr does list Patrick Sr as his father on his marriage certificate. What I need more than anything else is Patrick Jr's birth record. He claims to have been born in Newcastle Northumberland. Hours of searching have turned up nothing yet. So far my great grandfather only married, he was never born and did not die! I have a birth certificate for a Mary Ann Scott born, Dec. 12 1863, to Patrick Scott and Alice Darcy. Maybe the first Mary died or or the second one went by the name of Ann. The other birth you found is interesting and I will keep it on file for future reference. Thank you so much for keeping me in mind when you are searching. I have been working on putting an album together of my trip to Bolton. I see that my cousin was re elected yesterday. I'm sure all my ancestors in Tonge are very pleased. Thanks again Anne Joyce in Victoria On Friday, May 5, 2006, at 03:10 PM, pneanne wrote: > Hi Joyce, > > I found these Scotts in the St. Peter and Paul's Baptism Records. > Could they belong to you? > > Born 4th February, 1854 christened 26th February, Mary Scott, Father > Patrick, Mother Alice Darcy. your are a real angel martin, thank you so much!!!!!
A member of this list very kindly provided me with the information on three sets of relatives on the indexes of the early censuses of Gt. Bolton. (1811 thos Kennerdell, area 21, 1821 Ralph area 1, John and Thomas Kennerdale, both area 6, 1831 Ralph Kennerdell area17)Is there anyone who could possibly look up the original entries for me? Finding the children of these Kennerdales would solve a big mystery. OR can anyone offer suggestions as to how to find out more? many thanks Judith
