Yes, I too, would like to endorse this. Thank you very much for looking those up, Janet. The baptisms of the children you name will be very useful [cheaper that getting the birth certificates!!]; I'll certainly keep an eye on the opc site. I found the following in Bolton district: - (all with mother's maiden name Entwistle) Sep 1911 Edward Thompson Dec 1913 Edith Thompson Mar 1916 Eileen Thompson Dec 1917 Ethel Thompson Sep 1920 Violet Thompson The only other thing I can suggest is to keep an eye on the Lancashire Online Parish Clerks site http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/Search/indexp.html as Bolton records are currently being transcribed and any relevant christenings might appear some time. I realise this doesn't help you much, but thought the names might ring some bells or give you some ideas how to proceed further. Good luck! Janet C

Thanks for that very interesting article. It reminded me of my grandma Ann (Mather) Nuttall (1881-1965) who lived with us when I was a young boy. I remember her mentioning a man called Fletcher from the days when she lived at Howe Bridge. I once asked her who this Fletcher was and still remember her reply...in her broad accent.... "Why, he was the man wot owned all the mines in the harea" She spoke highly of the Fletchers and I understand they were very good employers. She lived at Leigh Rd Howe Bridge on the "Promenade".
