Hi Pam, There is a reference to an Edward and John Rigby, Iron and Brass founders, Pilling Well Foundry, Bradshawgate in the 1836 Bolton Directory. Not there in the 1821 Directory. Thank You Jacqui for that wonderful pic of Rothwell-Hick Iron Foundry. This would be great if it did happen to be the same one, although I doubt it, because Rothwell-Hick later became Hick-Hargreaves (I only know this because Hargreaves was one of the sons who came from Hart Common Farm, here in Westhoughton). I have another reference from the 1840's in Bolton to W & J Rigby, Iron Founder, Bradshawgate, Bolton, and the picture you sent me looks to be from a very early date, Thanks again Jacqui, much appreciated. Pam
Hello again List, Another Firm in Bolton I am interested in is: W.E. Rigby Ltd., Queens Foundry, Blackhorse St., Bolton. Can anyone help with when this firm started/finished or was taken over? Thank you in anticipation, Pam Clarke in Westhoughton.

I have been looking for an address on the 1851 census in Heaton where William & Ann Howarth lived. He was a farmer of 13 acres and the address looks like Long Suit? the following address is Old Hall. Can anyone tell me where this might be? Thank You Pam Clarke in Westhoughton

This has been on many lists over the last week, as would be expected there are quite a few from Bolton in the lists. None show up in place of birth but "Bolton" appears under "Civil" in quite a number of the results - I put Bolton and Lancashire in keywords and searched again and started to get them in matches. You can often get an idea from censuses. 1901 census has Carter Street then Bradford Road odd numbers from 1 up to 37 the Woodfield Street which is on the East side of Bradford Road. Suggests that the odd numbers might be on the East side of the road. It should be possible to find some other sections of Bradford Road and follow the numbers. If you go on the Bolton Council website and then select My Bolton, you can enter an address on Bradford Road and see a small map showing the location of that address. This suggests that odd numbers are still on the East side of the road.
