Thanks Sally Thanks for the info on 1911 census - I do have this one and the 1891 and 1901 - have not looked at any after 1911 so have no idea what happened to BENJAMIN, MARY AGNES, ELIZABETH OR THOMAS. HI Sally I did find this sailing schedule but the ones I cannot find two shipping records They are 1. my grandparents trip from Australia to England. They married in Port Victoria South Australia on 9th December 1906 and their first son (FRANCIS HENRY MORTON) was born in 43 Richmond Road Lincoln. Sailing date unknown. 2. my grandfather FRANCIS MORTON journey to Australia date unknown - I have found him on the 1901 census in Cheshire and then find him married in 1906 - I am struggling to find him in either Australia and England. Have tried various shipping records but no success at this stage. The address the family went to in 1913 was the Rectory Penola in South Australia. Are there records on where any of BENJAMIN'S children went to school or how they died- apart from census records and the following is all I know about the family Children identified from the births index, with mother's maiden name Procter) are:- 1875 Mary, died 1875 1877 Elizabeth 1881 Francis 1884 Thomas 1885 Benjamin, died 1886 1888 Betsy Jane, died 1888 1889 Margaret, died 1890 I have not found any more of the children Benjamin's parents as Thomas Morton and Mary. Thomas Morton (Moreton) married Mary Frankland in 1841 at St Mary the Virgin (now the cathedral), Blackburn On the 1861 census they have children Joseph 14 Eliz 11 James 8 Benjamin 6 I have not at this stage found any other information on THOMAS's family. >Hi Sally Thanks for getting back to me so promptly. I am trying to find out more about the family and their lives in Blackburn. My grandfather is Francis Morton son of BENJAMIN and MARY AGNES I have found him in the 1901 and 1911 UK census. In 1901 he was living in a church of England Church Army van. Unsure how he became an evangelist when his whole family worked in the cotton mills at Blackburn. BETWEEN 1901 AND 1911 HE LEFT ENGLAND AND CAME TO Australia and met my grandmother they then returned to UK and he attended Lincoln College and was ordained in Lincoln cathedral. In 1911 he was in Grimsby my mother MARY was born there. Both grandparents died prior to my mothers marriage and there is no info other than the census and birth certificate. Have the info from crockfords re this placements in England but trying to find more personal info on FRANCIS and his parents and siblings. I am off site at the moment and will be back at my computer on Monday. long weekend away. again many thanks only found out about the mailing lists on Wednesday and I wonderfully surprised by the response. regards Patricia > Hi Patricia, > What sort of information are you after on the family? Hi, I see that Moss Hall is shown on the 1844 Ordnance Survey map of Blackburn and also on the 1933 map. It seems to be a building just North East of Ronald Street (off Accrington Road before Intack)and near Fountain Mill. It is not there today - but I wonder what it was? Was it a line of cottages or a Hall as the name implies? If the latter, what do we know about it? TIA. Brian.
