This is not directly related to your Hollyer question, but there are a number of families from Woodchurch, Great Chart, Smarden, Little Chart areas who moved to western New York State about the same time in mid-1800's and they seem to have gravitated to areas where friends and neighbors had already settled. I know these include Woodgate, Harnden, Wood, Ottaway, Buss, Miles, Brown and Bourne. I'll bet you will find a connection. I know the above families settled in Chautauqua and Chemung counties (close to Olean) and also Monroe, Orleans Wayne Counties (near Rochester NY) and Onondaga County near Syracuse. Look on rootsweb for those counties as well as for the Woodchurch site! Sidenote: Did you know Olean was where they discovered oil in North America? The Seneca Indians already were aware of it.
