Hi, Just a small question: Do you happen to know if any of your family moved to western or central New York in mid=19th century? Quite a few others from Woodchurch and environs did, including some of mine. And I know of a George family still in Penfield, NY. At one time they were flower plant growers (not unusual for Kentish folk) and were world's largest growers of clematis plants. Lois
Lois, Yes, from my Holyer family, George Holyer and his son Thomas Bishopp Holyer moved to New York and they and their descendants can be found in many of the censuses. They continued as Butchers/Farmers. Peter Walker www.hollyer.name PS For those that noted the Walter Holyer will on eBay, I acquired this at the minimum price. > -----Original Message----- > From: eng-ken-woodchurch-bounces@rootsweb.com > [mailto:eng-ken-woodchurch-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of > Lnrsquire@aol.com > Sent: 23 January 2007 19:45 > To: eng-ken-woodchurch@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [ENG-KEN-WOODCHURCH] hello from a new member > > Hi, > Just a small question: Do you happen to know if any of your > family moved to western or central New York in mid=19th > century? Hello Peter, >From your recent e-mails I notice you have data on your Holyer ancestors. My Turner family (Daniel & Sarah) lived on The Green Woodchurch 1843 - 1908 and their sons Charles Albert and Daniel William both emigrated to New York State. I know that Charles A (born 1849) emigrated in 1879 and knew he had a wife Elizabeth born England - from the US 1880 census for Olean, NY State. They had two children Albert (1882 - 1934) and Elizabeth Sarah (1885 - 1969) and I have a letter that Charles A wrote to his parents in 1885 after Elizabeths death. Recently I have found another descendant in the US who tells me Elizabeth was a Holyer/Hilyer before marriage and I am wondering if you have any reference to their marriage in you data please?
