Dear Josie I attach what we have been able to find out, beyond doubt, about the family of George Bourne 1712-1790 and Elizabeth Brown (-1794) showing details of their ten children. I also include images of three marriage entries from Parish Registers where William Bourne, I believe, wrote his signature. They are images of photocopies so not the absolute best. I think they were all done by the same hand. There are many questions still unanswered. Among these are: 1. We have searched for the baptism of Elizabeth Bourne circa 1760 in all the Parish Registers around Warehorne, including the whole of Romney Marsh using David Hill's Baptism Index for that District, to no avail. He age when buried, the monumental inscription with her husband John Fullagar, the details in her father's will giving her parents, the fact that she was not a minor at marriage in 1782, her marriage in the Church of England that required the parties to have been baptised as did burial in the churchyard, make us believe that she was baptized probably at Warehorne or Woodchurch, but that her baptism appears to have been 'lost', 2. The are two marriages that could be those of Joseph (1746-) and Thomas (1749-1778) the first at Leeds and the second at Lydd but both are 'of this parish' and there are no Bourne witnesses. Inconclusive based on that evidence, 3. One of the marriage entries involving William Bourne is for a George Bourne of Warehorne and Ann Waddell at Ruckinge in 1772. A George Bourne is buried at Warehorne in 1776 and an Ann Bourne widow remarries at Warehorne in 1784. Was he another brother of William, a second bearing that name, whose baptism was also missed? Due to his early death, he would not have been mentioned in his father's will in 1788. There is another George Bourne baptised around the same year as William but in Kenardington and at least two more who could be about the right age in Appledore. None of these are sons of a George and Elizabeth Bourne. Cousins perhaps. I am very interested in what you think and whether you can add anything? If any WAG member would like copies of what I sent to Josie Mackie they need to contact me on a one to one basis and I will sent them as attachments. Josie and I, whose joint ancestors this family are, would be very interested in any additional information, backed by irrefutable sources, that members can provide. Eek! is this English? Best wishes - Bob Chown
