That's interesting, Jilda. (Leaving aside the fact that the voyage took 100 years and 4 months!!! :-) ) I was told by one of the Hukins' descendants that they left on 1st May 1839 and arrived at Sydney 1st September. I can't believe that there were two ships going the same place at the same time or perhaps there were??? Dartford is only a few miles up the coast from Gravesend (about 7?...difficult to tell on my large scale map): would the Hukinses have been on board for 11 days before the Hamptons got on at Gravesend? Anybody know???
