Dear Dave, Was anyone able to help with your Swinyard query? I don't have any information that might help, but an idea. If you are looking for where the Swinyards lived before they came to Woodchurch, the Deposition papers may help you. These give information about witnesses (or deponents) in church cases: name, residence, occupation, how long he or she had been living there, and often his or her period of residence in other parishes if relevant to the case. Perhaps most important of all, the deposition gives the person's age and where he or she was born. The problem is there's a lot of them to look through! An index (roughly 1541-1755) has been made of some of them by a professional genealogist, but being a professional, you would have to pay. I have used this index for my Back family and got some good results. e.g. one of my Backs in the 16th century was involved in a case against the vicar of Wye. I got some useful biographical information about him. However, I then used it for my Beslees and came up with absolutely nothing, so it's a bit of a gamble. You might end up paying for nothing. Still, I hesitate to advertise on the Woodchurch 14+ mailing list ( although I am not in any way involved in the business!) so if you wish to know more about the service, contact me off list and I'll supply the details. best wishes, Josie
Josie Thanks for your reply. No further information has as yet come to hand so may be in touch soon.
