Hi Bob, Thanks for the Info. I think the pub started as a beer house in about 1860, where it was purchased by Thomas Knight. I have some record of Mr Knight from the 1881 census. He subsequently sold the pub to James Bourne. According the 1901 census James B Homewood and Kevin Boorman (not sure of the surname on the latter), nephews of James Bourne were living with him and Martha; Martha name confirmed in your mail, Thanks. James or Jimmy Homewood then took over the pub un till the late 40's. My quests is to put some flesh on the bones of the Knight, Bourne and Homewood families, and ultimately try to find out who may have lived in the cottages before conversion to a beer house in the 1860's. I also want to find out the landlords of the pub to date. Any guidance on how to research this would be very much appreciated, I have had no luck so far at the centre of Kentish studies, or at the magistrate's court at Dover. Finally the Knights 1881 census is really strange according to the records, regarding children and grandchildren. The ages seem to match and fathers are given. I researched the landlords at the Bonny Cravat, Woodchurch a few years ago. Got back to its foundation as an Inn in 1690. If you need any help on where to find information like that - just ask. Best wishes - Bob Chown john@worldswonder.co.uk wrote: Can anyone help please?
