Dear All, Some of the long-standing list members will know that the creation of this mailing list was an initiative of the Woodchurch 14+ Group--an offshoot of the Woodchurch Local History Society (WLHS)--whose members' main interests lie in researching the local and family history of the village. The group's online presence at www.goldbern.co.uk/woodchurch and woodchurch.hollyer.name are two outlets for these efforts. Following the group's meeting at the Woodchurch Village Life Museum last weekend, it has been suggested that the '14+' element of the group's title inadequately captures the predominently research-focused interests of its members. An alternative title, the 'Woodchurch Ancestry Group', has already received positive responses from members who attended the meeting, so I am now circulating this proposal to the members of eng-ken-woodchurch for comment. If there are no strong objections or suggestions for alternative titles, the 'Woodchurch 14+ Group' will become the 'Woodchurch Ancestry Group' from Sunday 15 July, and this title will be used both for the organising group of the 2008 'Woodchurch in 1871' exhibition and a number of other initiatives planned for the next twelve months, of which more later. All the best Gary Samson

Gary, I'm sorry I couldn't get to the meeting due to a last minute priority interrupt! I support the change of name and will reflect that in my website. The second issue that I often think about is whether it would be more helpful for members to have just a single website about Woodchurch, rather than two. We could buy a suitable domain name (as an alias), such as www.woodchurchancestry.org.uk (it is available). I would be happy to give up my site if this makes sense. I could assist in the management of the common site pages if you'd prefer. Any thoughts? Best, Peter Walker
As one of the original members who helped set up the 14+ group up I am more than happy to see it renamed...
