    3. Dear Bob, Excellent! I'm so pleased you were able to able to link Thomas Bingham to the right family. I think it might be a good idea if I put the bare details of all my cards on the list as I have a few that I can't match up! However, I must go and do some more searching in my cupboards as your email and Merilyn's have raised a few more questions. My father's family (Back) spent from about 1700 -1750s in Woodchurch, then about 1800- present day. In the intervening period one generation was apprenticed out as poor children to Shadoxhurst, I think, to a Couchman. One of them also married a Bingham in Shadoxhurst. Lastly, Rebecca Cramp in Merilyn's email is ringing bells because my Beslees married into the Cramp family twice in the early 1800s; one was a Rebecca....must go and look...good thing it's bank holiday. Best wishes, Josie

    3. Hi Bob, Wow, you have made my day, Thankyou so much for the information about Thomas Bingham and others. I actually spoke to you last year at the family day in Woodchurch, but as I was really just a beginner, we couldn't make a connection with the family. My husbands 2x Gt grandfather being George ( probably the 9th child ) I seem to remember the George you had ,married Rebecca Cramp. It's great too, to have Thomas' parents. I had seen the marriage for James and Mary Henman on the list, but wasn't at all sure whether that was the connection. My mum-in-law was the daughter of Edward Stephen Bingham, he was born in Teynham in 1883, but was killed in WW1, two weeks before her 4th birthday, so she didn't remember him. E S, was the first son of Edward Stephen Bingham, born 1863, and he was the 9th child of George and Ann Eliza Bingham George died in1900 and Ann Eliza died in 1872 both in Sittingbourne, as yet I can't discover where they were buried, in time perhaps. You have been a tremendous help, Thank you so much. Best wishes Lyn

    3. Hello Everyone, I've just joined the list and I'm hoping someone can help me. I am looking for THOMAS BINGHAM. No dates at all. He was the father of ( at least ) Mary Bingham born about 1806 , married in Woodchurch 1840 to David Couchman. George (2xGt Grandfather ) born about 1819, I believe Thomas' second wife was Mary , in 1841 she is widowed and living in Woodchurch with William aged 15yrs and Caroline aged 14 yrs, she died later that year. In 1851, Mary is now living with David and Mary Couchman, and is recorded as Step-mother . I would love to have any information about Thomas, his first wife and any siblings of George. George married Ann Eliza Wanstall , 1842 Bilsington, they had 9 children. Julia 1841 ( baptised as Wanstall) Eliza 1843 Caroline 1845 George James 1848 William John 1850. Thomas Richard 1854. Mary Ann 1857. Harry 1859 . Edward Stephen (Gt grandfather ) 1863 Teynham Kent, mar Amy Jane Edwards 1883 Milton (Sittingbourne ). All the children were born in Woodchurch, Bilsington and Kingsnorth apart from Edward. If anyone knows anything, I will be eternally grateful. I shall look forward to hearing from anyone. Best wishes to all. Merilyn

    3. Hi Martin My BOURNE connection is very remote: My grt grandparents x 4 were Edward JENNER (c1787-1863) who in 14/01/1809 married Jane MARSHALL (c1790-1828). They had at least 8 children, one of whom, George JENNER, I am descended from. George's sister, Hester/Esther (b c1823) married Claudius Caesar BOURNE in 1848. Claudius was a carpenter journeyman. I am not sure how this fits in with your Sophia & Benjamin or Sarah & Smith King. The only Sarah JENNER I have was born post 1857 so would be too young to be yours. However its very likely that they are all related. I will pass on your details to the other folks I know who are researching these names if OK with you. 3. Hi John - I have a particular interest in Warehorne. My great Grandmother came from Warehorne & lived variously at the Leacon & Warehorne Green. The World's Wonder would certainly have been used by her father (Thomas Wooley Manning) in the Leacon days, although he may have switched to the Woolpack when living on the Green! Whilst researching my greatgrandmother's family I beame increasingly interested in the whole village of Warehorne and have begun transcribing and collating ALL the censuses for everyone who lived there from 1841 to 1901- ths is about 2/3rds complete. It is really interesting to see who did what & who were the permanent families & who who were transient. There does seem to be quite a lot of moving about. My direct family surnames for Warehorne are WOOLLEY MANNING, JENNER & BROWN. There are connections with the BOURNES by marriage. I am gradually building up a picture of Warehorne during the census years and would welcome any contribuitions such as your research on World's Wonder - I did not receive the attachment you sent, so is it possible to resend directly to me? Once I have all the census information collated I will be able to send you details of any individual or family in Warehorne. I hope to add to census information with contributions from those who have researched any of the families - either BMD's or anecdotes. I would also like any information about anything to do with Warehorne in this period (may expand later).- e.g. history of buildings, events etc. As you are likely to meet folks who may have had ancestors who were locals, it would be great if you could pass on any info. Many thanks Sharon ----- Original Message ----- From: "john" <john@worldswonder.co.uk> To: <ENG-KEN-WOODCHURCH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, May 02, 2007 11:41 AM Subject: [ENG-KEN-WOODCHURCH] FW: Knights in Woodchurch > > > > > _____ > > From: john [mailto:john@worldswonder.co.uk] > Sent: 29 April 2007 02:30 > To: 'ENG-KEN-WOODCHURCH-L@rootsweb.com' > Subject: Knights in Woodchurch > > > > Hi, > > My name is John Roberts the owner of the Worlds Wonder Warehorne for the > past 16 months or so. > > > > I am trying to assimilate as much history on the pub and its previous > owners/occupiers/tenants and produce an history to be a legacy for the pub, > it's regular customers and for history in general. > > > > Attached is some research I did concerning one Thomas Knight from > Kenardington, and some mystery concerning his family. 3. Hi Sharon: I am directly connected to BOURNE in Woodchurch and indirectly to JENNER, so I would be interested in your research on these names. My direct line is via Sophia BOURNE and Benjamin KING (my great-great-grandparents). Sarah JENNER married Smith KING 20 Apr 1837 at Woodchurch, Smith's father John KING was Benjamin's younger brother. Any interesting connections to your BOURNEs and JENNERs? Regards Martin Willcocks Taylorsville, UT, USA.

I am trying to assimilate as much history on the pub and its previous owners/occupiers/tenants and produce an history to be a legacy for the pub, it's regular customers and for history in general. Attached is some research I did concerning one Thomas Knight from Kenardington, and some mystery concerning his family. Some reference is made of an Elizabeth Knight from Kenardington, and see that this is a name your research is also interested in. My Elizabeth is probably a married name, but would you have any info on who or what her maiden name may be? I know this is a long shot but your records may show a connection, and shed some light on the strange situation he family records seem to show. Additionally I am trying to find out something about James Bourne, the man who purchased the beer house from thomeas Knight, and wondered if he may have had some connection to the Bourns' in your research. Thanks in advance, Best Regards John Roberts Worlds Wonder
