Hello all. Can anyone throw light on a mystery surrounding one Jessy/Jessie Orvis.? The 1901 census shows a Jessy Orvis age 14 born Crayford living with John Poune, his wife Mary, son George and daughter Lilly in Woodchurch and recorded as Adopted. There is also a 1901 census entry giving Jessie Orvis age 14 born Crayford living with her family in Camberwell. I have found a record for the birth of a Jessie Orvis in Dec 1886. Registered in Dartford. I can only find one. Is it possible for the same person to appear in two census returns originating in different areas ? I know that Jessie Orvis had connections with the Poune family from Woodchurch as she was a witness to the marriage of Lilly Poune in 1904 in Woodchurch.
