Dear listers I have a John CHERRY who was buried in Diddington HUN 7th Jan 1847. He seems to have had 2 wives, (1) Mary EAT in 1804 and (2) Sarah CAVILLER in 1826. He was said to have been 67 years old when he died which puts him as being born circa 1780. The 1841 census says he wasn't born in the county. My question is how can I find out where John CHERRY came from. I have tried to look for a settlement prior to his first marriage in 1804 but the film I ordered from the LDS was very sparse and nothing was there. The name CHERRY is fairly common in the adjoining counties of Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire and there may be a candidate in Bedfordshire from Clifton but how can I prove it ? This particular John Cherry in Clifton seems to have had a father who died while the son was fairly young so that may have been a reason to find work elsewhere, Any suggestions welcome as I have been at a standstill for the last couple of years. Best wishes Jean
