    3. Dear all, I wonder if anyone can assist me in finding my 'SEEKINGS' or name variant (Seekins, Seakings, Seakins, Sekins etc) ancestors. I have managed to get back to a Joseph Seekings, who married Martha Collyn in May 1786 at Stretham, Cambs. They then moved to Witcham, Cambs were their 6 children were born between 1787 and 1798, approx. I believe that 4 of the children grew up and died in Cambridgeshire, 1 moved to Somersham, Hunts, and Mathew Seekings, who was my Gt, Gt, Gt Grandfather moved to Terrington St Clement, Norfolk, where he married and died. Mathew's descendants eventually moved down South, and have remained in the Portsmouth, Hampshire area. As I am living on the South coast, and am unable to visit your areas, I wonder if anyone has come across the Seekings surname when looking at, or transcribing local registers. Unfortunately, there are only a few Seekings shown on the I.G.I. I have found a record of a baptism for a Joseph Sekens in Woodhurst, Hunts for March 1762. Unfortunately this shows him as the son of Mathew Sekens and Mary his wife. This is the earliest entry in all of the Woodhurst registers for that surname, or similar. I have not yet traced Joseph's death/burial details. I know that the surname is found in the Chatteris, Cambs area but have not yet found a link to our branch of the family. Any assistance or information relating to this name would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all, Best regards, Derek Reay
