Don't know if there is a connection but I have a John Chapman married to Rebecca in 1786 who had the following children...Richard, David Mary, Rebecca and Martha 1788 to 1802. I am from the Rebecca line. Perhaps a grandparent to your John? Let me know when if you get any information and if there is a connection. They come from Winwick, Huntingdonshire.
