Hi from New Zealand I am new to this list and am looing for links regarding my g.g.grandfather Evelyn Alfred HASTINGS. He married in Christchurch, New Zealand in 1876, aged 35 which would have him being born about 1841. I have no date or place of birth. Family believe that he was the first born son of the Earl of Huntingdon but he never wanted to return to England. Can anyone on this list enlighten me as to the relationship between 'Huntingdonshire' and the 'Earl of Huntingdon'. Is anyone there linked to the Earl of Huntingdon in their tree and can let me know if my Evelyn Alfred actually was his son??? I also have a word of mouth source that Evelyn was a "Runholder" in Cannock Chase, Staffordshire. Also the name 'Maryvale Hall' is mentioned, but I can't work out the relationship with Cannock Chase, if there is one. Can anyone help me or head me in the right general direction please.
