    3. Thank you to each one of you who answered my St. Noets Parish Record question. I understand everyones frustration, as it also adds fuel to an already frustrating situation. Let me give the situation and maybe someone on the list will have some light to shed on the subject. We have a marriage certificate for Catherine WILES and James Thomas GODFREY married in Islington, London Mar 26, 1862. Brides father is listed as Reuben WILES, bricklayer The birth of Catherine Wiles is a mystery to us but wont dwell on it as its a London problem. Marriage cert. quotes full age The various census returns from 1861-1901 all state she was born in Islington between 1841-44 with 1841 turning up most often. - no birth found in the Civil Registration birth index the search continues - thus we dont know the mothers name. James and Catherines first child was named James Rueben Godfrey. Weve recently been sent a document confirming a marriage in St.Neots. The sender, a family member is telling us the married couple documented are the parents of our Catherine WILES. The problem is, the grooms name is George and not Reuben. George Wiles married to Susan Denniss by banns 16 June 1822. http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,50985.0.html Weve been unable to locate Catherine Wiles on the 1861 census before her marriage. Weve been unable to locate a Reuben Wiles, on a census from 1861 forward. We realize he may have died before 1861. No mention of a death for Reuben on Free BMD. I have taken into consideration that George and Susannah could be Catherines grandparents, and her father, Reuben possibly their first child, and Catherine possibly his first child. On the 1861 there is a George Wiles born in St. Noets, b. 1807 living in Islington, with a family however his wifes name is Elizabeth. (second wife?) With the fiche that are available, is there anything that will indicate that George was George Reuben or Reuben George Wiles? The original marriage or a baptism record about 1790s 1800 give or take? Any suggestions on this mystery are greatly appreciated.
