    3. The Goodwin/Goodson mistranscription is then doubly compounded by Hunts being transcribed as Hants, although in this case looking at the original it's more understandable! >From: "Ron Goodwin" <ron_goodwin@circa1984.com> >To: ENG-HUNTINGDON-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: Julia GOODWIN missing from 1881 census >Date: Mon, 23 May 2005 10:30:05 +0100 > >I have a relative, Julia GOODWIN, born 07 Sep 1857 in Godmanchester. 3. Thanks to David the mystery is solved. Yet another reinforcement, if one be needed, of the superiority of "original" over "transcription". I really should have suspected this, as the birthplace of another of my ancestors, James GOODWIN, also born in Godmanchester, was given in the 1881 transcription as "Getmoor"! ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Cooper" <cooperda@hotmail.com> To: <ENG-HUNTINGDON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, May 23, 2005 1:30 PM Subject: RE: Julia GOODWIN missing from 1881 census > The Goodwin/Goodson mistranscription is then doubly compounded by Hunts > being transcribed as Hants, although in this case looking at the original > it's more understandable! > >>From: "Ron Goodwin" <ron_goodwin@circa1984.com> >>To: ENG-HUNTINGDON-L@rootsweb.com >>Subject: Julia GOODWIN missing from 1881 census >>Date: Mon, 23 May 2005 10:30:05 +0100 >> >>I have a relative, Julia GOODWIN, born 07 Sep 1857 in Godmanchester.
