Hello from one Elaine to another. A couple of thoughts occurred to me when reading your note. 1. Could Jeremiah have been a second name with the boy christened under his "real" name eg James Jeremiah Newbound 2. Do you know for certain they were CofE? Someone will correct me if I am wrong but the baptism registers didn't cover churches like the methodist, catholics etc. 3. He might have been the subject of a spelling mistake. 4. they could have had him christened in an adjacent parish or elsewhere if they were visiting family. Do they have other family living in other parishes. 5. Was he christened at all. Maybe he was lawless in later life because he started out as ungodly! 6. Was he illegitimate. Maybe he was registered as a Denton and on his parents later marriage, he took his father's surname. 7. Might he be listed in other parish records besides baptism registers. Would workhouses, poor laws etc have been around then? 8. Genuki holds lists of people willing to do look-ups in certain areas or in certain documents. Have you checked whether anyone holds additional records for that area? That's all I can think of. I hope the list can help with some more. Yours, Elaine Saunders
