I should be pleased to hear from anybody who has had family who emigrated from Needingworth to Illinois as there appears to be a number of villagers who went in the second half of the 19th century. David and Matthew Tabbitt and their families emigrated in 1885 to join their half-brother John Norman who arrived around 1868. A family letter (1894) mentions other Needingworth people who also emigrated to the same area, namely: William Beaumont, William Circus (Cirkis), Charles Ayres, Harriet Norman and ?? Kidman. The places mentioned are Peotone, Kankakee, Askhum and Chicago. My questions are why Needingworth to Illinois? Who was the first to go? Were there agents involved? Any help, information or comment would be most appreciated. Peter Tabbitt Tabbitt Genealogy: www.tabbitt.fsbusiness.co.uk
