I have come across a xeroxed copy of a book some relative of mine wrote. The Author is "Pattie C. Ekins" the book was published around early 1900's. I would like to know the title of the book as it is not listed anywhere in the xerox copy that i have. I know there is a book in existence in a library in Cambridge (know I have no idea which one and there are probably a few of them) and I also know that a resident in Warboys has a copy as well. The book is about Pattie's life in the The Manor at Warboys and then later on in Cambridge. If anyone happens to come across this book could they please let me know the title of the book. It has some valuable family data in there and I can't reference a book that I don't know the title of. Any suggestions on how to reference the book if I don't have the title? Also can anyone please tell me what county Wymondley is in? This place is referenced a few times in the book as where an aunt and uncle lived and she would visit. Many thanks in advance Helen Brahms (nee Ekins) Researching: Ekins, Longland, Hobson, Hempstead, Cleave, Hendra, Ross, Richards, Petters, Bullen, Brayzer, Price, Harper, Angliss, Hosking, Bawden
Helen, the best place for out of print/obscure books is www.abebooks.com. Second-hand booksellers put their catalogues on the site and then you can phone the seller direct if they have it. I have found a couple of childhood books this way. I also found some old local history books and the sellers are always willing to answer questions before you buy. You can search by author or keyword to turn up the book you need. I have just looked at Ekins but they do not have the book you seek. the British Library hold copies of every book published but I don't know how feasible it would be to search with them - or if it is, indeed, possible.
