I am keen to find the marriage of an Alice May Newman born in Bythorn, Hunts. in the March Quarter of 1883. Her father was Thomas Newman and her mother Lucy Pickering Newman. Her parents moved to Croydon, Surrey, sometime between after the 1881 census and the 1891 census. In the 1891 census Alice (aged 16) is shown living with her parents and her brother, George, my father. I have been unable to find her in the 1901 census, nor have I found a marriage for her. Is there anyone who has information about Alice May? I have a unwanted marriage certificate for an Alice May Newman, age 25, spinster, father Richard Newman, a carriage maker, AND Christopher Mason, age 21, a bachelor, solemnized August 3, 1907 at All Saints, Huntingdon, which I will be pleased to pass along to an interested party. This is a further attempt to find someone who can help me break through a brick wall. My maternal great Grandparents were: John Corney, born Ramsey, Hunts., 10 November 1830. died 6 August 1900 married 22 July 1857 to - Sarah Ann Longland (Widow of Isaac Goakes) born 8 October 1831 died 26 March 1892 in Bramley, Leeds, Yorkshire. daughter of Lavender Longland (b. 27 March 1807 Warboys, Hunts) & Elizabeth Palmer (b.28 June 1807, Ramsey, Hunts) m. circa 1831 Warboys, Hunts. I can find no parents or siblings for John Corney I can find no parents or siblings for either Lavender Longland or Elizabeth Palmer I have searched Roots web, LDS including IGI. but nor been able to search the 1841 , 1851, 1861 or 1871 censuses Brian Smith Queensland Australia

Hello, Wondering if someone may enlighton me on poll books. The basic reason for these polls? I am guessing Easter to Easter as that used to me the new year time and tradition carried on after 1752 One goes as follows: Rate granted to Anth(abbreviated Anthony?) PERCIVAL church warden for the parish Sibson Cum Stibbington from Easter 1810 to Easter 1811 at ??? the Pound,Rental, Levy His Grace the Duke of Bedford 4.10 0 1 0 W BRIGGS 258.0 4 6 0 W PERCIVAL 252.0 4 4 0 W ALLEN 246.10 4 2 2 many more Thomas WARD * 4.0 0 1 4 more to John WYATT 2.0 0 0 8 1672.1 27 17 6 There is other names if anyone is asking I have. What would ??? be........ looks like "Rin" could be symbol "R" then word "in" First column is rental? Last three columns are pounds shillings pence??? What would Pound Rental Levy stand for in first sentence the W's in front of names may be a symbol * My WARD on list what if any indication of standing in community
This may be an easy question but would anyone know where I can get a copy of the St Ives Parish Records. I looked at the LDS site but they don't seem to have it for anytime except marriage index 1779-1837 or baptisms 1600's . I am looking for marriage of ABLETT's about 1790--1800 in St Ives. Also for baptisms of ABLETT John in 1797and Phillip in 1802. Is it possible to purchase fiche from somewhere for these timelines?? Debbie Toronto, Canada

To Sally Roberts and David Cooper, Thanks for your help, I will take it all onboard. Being only part-time in family history my wife and I do not know our way around all the information that is available to us. So we always thank all you experts who answer are requests for guidance. Good hunting. Richard Fox North Somerset.
Is there someone with the 1851 census who could look up the following for me please, In 1841 they were in OLDHURST should be still there in 1851. I am after the birthplace of father Thomas Saddington, and wife Mary, and any more children they might have had. The surname could be slightly mispelt like Sarrington. Thomas SADDINGTON 40 Ag Lab Mary 30 Mary 7 Betsy 6 Richard 4 Tom 1 Emma 3mths Thanking you for any enlightenment, Jan Robb....N.Z.
Thomas Sutton, widower, (who could well have been my 3x great grandfather) married Sarah Swepson in Kimbolton, Hunts in 1827. Any one met the Swepson name before? Brian
Hi Richard Have you found James in either the 1871 or, more likely, the 1851 censuses which might give a more precise birthplace? Time spent finding him in 1851 may more than make up for time spent looking for a needle in a haystack, with no guarantee that you will have found the right James in the parish registers - and some are only available at Huntingdon Record Office. Do you have any details of his marriage, which might give an indication of his home parish, particularly he married in Hunts rather than London? Did he have children, and if so were they all born in London, or hopefully in Hunts? Hope this is useful Regards David >From: "sally roberts" <sallyroberts55@hotmail.com> >To: ENG-HUNTINGDON-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: RE: James BARKER >Date: Tue, 22 Mar 2005 12:40:55 +0000 > >Hi Richard, > >The following information is from the Genuki website - >http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/HUN/ > >Even though it's a relatively small county, it's going to feel very big if >you don't have clues to a more specific birthplace :O)...... > >Church Records >The list of surviving Huntingdonshire parish registers and their >availability, appears as part of "Church Records" detail on each parish >page. Hi Richard, The following information is from the Genuki website - http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/HUN/ Even though it's a relatively small county, it's going to feel very big if you don't have clues to a more specific birthplace :O)...... Church Records The list of surviving Huntingdonshire parish registers and their availability, appears as part of "Church Records" detail on each parish page. A copy of the list of Huntingdonshire Parish Registers, which are in the Library of the Society of Genealogists, are now on-line. (here is the url for this webpage: http://www.sog.org.uk/prc/huntingdonshire.html) Ted Wildy's UK Marriage witness index entries for Huntingdonshire [ ftp ]. The Huntingdonshire Methodist Circuit have deposited many local Methodist records, including the Baptism registers of the St. Ives section of the Huntingdonshire Wesleyan Methodist Mission Circuit 1837 - 1980 (acc. 4643 part) with the Huntingdon Record Office. My name is Richard Fox and I am new to the list. I have just found my gggrandfather James BARKER on the 1861 Census in London. This gives him as born about 1798 in 'Huntingdonshire'. Can any kind lister please tell me where copies of the Parish registers are available for inspection. Any guidance as to what is available to me that could reduce the search area. Regards, Richard Fox. North Somerset.
Hello, I have been researching the Page family - they originated in Gamlingay with Robert Page marrying Mary Livett in 1711, moving a couple of generations later to Hail Weston, where I find George Page marrying Ann Dawson in October 1779. George and Ann had a number of children, their second son being Thomas (1791-1871) who married Frances Gilbert at St Nicholas Church, HW in 1813. Just like all the rest of the Page family, they had a large number of surviving children, inlcuding Thomas (1819-1872) who married Elizabeth Cave in 1842 ... which is where my query comes in! Despite being born in HW and dying there in 1872 - all of Thomas' children were born in Eynesbury which, despite only being a stones throw away, has managed to put a spanner in all my research because I don't have access to any Eynesbury records! Does anyone have access to the Eynesbury parish baptism records to confirm the births of Thomas and Elizabeth's children? Or could check the 1851 census for the parish? Thomas is listed on the 1871 census for HW as a scavenger and labourer. The children that I know of are: George (1843-1904) Elizabeth (b.1844) Frederick (b.1846) Susanna (b.1849) Mary Ann (b.1861) If anyone else is connected to the Pages, I'd love to hear!
